Depression affects 121 million people worldwide. I'm sorry to start this post on such a sad note but I read this somewhere and it kind of blew me away.
I've been trying to put off meaningful posts like this because I'm trying to focus on happier things but that is a really big number and I think the more people know it, the better.
I have had my fair share of bad days this year and I certainly know what it's like to feel 'lonely in a crowded room.' Now i'm not trying to say i'm depressed or anything but I can kind of relate to people who are.
Ah anyway the reason I called the post Bitter Sweet is because I was skyping my best friend the other day and she was telling me about how she's been coping with moving countries.
She said every day after school she writes down all the good things that happened that day in a little book.
She told me a few recent things that she had written, they weren't super amazing things like "Omg this hot guy on the bus asked for my number today!" or "I went on a massive shopping spree and spent $500!".
They were cute things like "I saw an old lady picking up rubbish on the beach" or "_____ said hi to me today"
Stuff like that.
I know this idea is not going to magically help someone's depression but I'm sure it will help and make you realise the little things that weren't terrible that day haha.
I'm going to try start doing this, and if your going through a hard time (or not) then I hope you try it out too :)
Love always xx
